The Bride Jill Rowett
The Groom: Jace McLean
Date: February 26, 2011
Venue: Battery Gardens (New York, NY)
Having relocated from California to New Hampshire just months before their wedding, this couple didn’t have much time for planning. After deciding to get married in New York City, close to where Jill grew up, they found a fantastic group of vendors and put them to work on their vision for a cozy winter wedding in Manhattan.
Jill and Jace said “I do” at Battery Gardens, a restaurant that provided a sleek and modern backdrop (plus great views of the Statue of Liberty and Staten Island Ferry) for both ceremony and reception.

Jill’s maid of honor wore an Alice & Olivia dress of tiered ruffles in several shades of purple. The other bridesmaids were asked to purchase a full-length purple gown of their choice.

The Gus & Ruby Letterpress boutique in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, helped Jill choose a stationery suite designed by Smock, featuring simple, circular, gray patterns and deep purple font.
Jill loves to bake with her sister (and maid of honor), so together they made a giant batch of chocolate-chip cookies. Packages of the delicious, homemade treats in elegant little boxes awaited the guests at their seats.
Guests were asked to sign any of the pages inside a copy of the children’s book This is New York. The book, now filled with messages of love, is a fixture in the couple’s apartment.
A red-velvet cake hid beneath elegant white cream cheese frosting, finished with a pair of snowmen – one in a top hat and the other in a lavender scarf.
