Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Baldwin School was designed in 1892 by prominent Philadelphia architect Frank Furness—the same architect who created the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts 20 years earlier.

Furness, one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Institute of Architects, originally designed the five-story, chateau-style structure as the Bryn Mawr Hotel. In 1922, the Baldwin School purchased the spectacular building, along with its 25 landscaped acres at this distinguished Main Line location, just nine miles west of Philadelphia.
